The E.ON BKK was the first health insurance fund in Germany to take out health insurance against sickness and ill-health abroad for its members with Debeka Krankenversicherungsverein a. G.
If you become ill while on holiday abroad, the cost for you can be considerable. As a statutory health insurance fund, we are only allowed to assume the costs if you are travelling in EU countries and states with which a social insurance treaty exists and only the costs normal under the law of the particular country. The health insurance cover in these countries is, however, seldom as extensive as that in Germany. In other countries (for example Asia or America), there is absolutely no health insurance cover!
If you travel abroad without health insurance cover, your dream holiday can easily turn into a nightmare. We want to stop that happening! Since 15 December 2006, all our members have enjoyed international health insurance cover through Debeka. Therefore, in the event of an accident abroad or acute illness, you are entitled to reimbursement of the costs for the following services:

You generally do not need any other international health insurance. You can save the cost of such an insurance if it is not part of an insurance package provided for example by the ADAC or credit card companies.
Naturally, you can still also use the European Health Insurance Card.
